Effect of Wall Reflections on Hot Electron Temperature from ECE Diagnostics in LDX

چکیده
Background The Levitated Dipole Experiment (LDX) at MIT uses a floating donut-shaped supercon-ducting magnet to study the confinement of plasma in a dipole magnetic field. LDX created its first plasma in 2004 and first levitated its su-perconducting magnet in 2007. Compared to the more popular tokamak, first used to create plasma in the 1960s, LDX is a relatively new device. Despite this, there is speculation that the magnetic field configuration in LDX may prove to be superior to that of the toka-mak, with respect to the eventual goal of nuclear fusion.

Millimeter-wave radiometer diagnostics of harmonic electron cyclotron emission in the Levitated Dipole Experiment.
A 110/137 GHz radiometer pair with collimated antenna pattern is being used to diagnose optically thin harmonic electron cyclotron emission from hot electrons in LDX. Signal levels of 0.1-1 keV and 110/137 ratios of 2-4 stationary with ECRH power have been observed. The large plasma core magnetic field gradient causes all relevant harmonics to be simultaneously viewed over a angle(k,B) angular ...
متن کاملComputational Study of Radiative and Convective Heat Transfer in a Cylindrical Combustion Chamber
In this paper, the effect of cold air on the fluid flow inside the cylindrical combustion chamber and its wall temperature distribution have been studied computationally, taking into account the effect of radiative heat transfer from hot gases. The results have been compared with the case that radiative heat transfer was neglected. It is observed that the reattachment length increases when incr...
متن کاملInfluence of Non-Uniform Wall Temperature on Local Heat Transfer Coefficient in a Rotating Square Channel
Abstract: This paper presents the results of an experimental examination of the effect of non-uniform wall temperature on local heat transfer coefficient in a rotating smooth-walled square channel. Three different thermal boundary situations were investigated: (a) even and odd (four) wall uniform temperature, (b) even and odd (four) wall uniform heat flux, and (c) even (leading and trailing) w...
متن کاملElectron Cyclotron Emission ( ECE ) and Correlation ECE diagnostic on TCV
The electron cyclotron emission (ECE) and correlation ECE diagnostics in TCV have been upgraded during its 2014 shutdown; this paper will provide a brief overview on their updated architecture and capabilities. The ECE system is equipped with two radiometers, each with 24 channels (750 MHz bandwidth) looking at the plasma both from the low and high field side covering the whole vessel. Of parti...
متن کاملParasitic Effect of Tube Wall Longitudinal Heat Conduction on Cryogenic Gas Temperature
Longitudinal heat conduction is an important parameter in the cryogenic field, especially in cryogenic heat exchangers. In the present work, the parasitic effect of tube wall longitudinal heat conduction on temperature measurement has been studied in cryogenic laminar hydrogen flow. The effects of various parameters such as wall cold end temperature, wall thermal conductivity, gas volumetric fl...
